Gluten Free Turkey Tater Tot Casserole
This Gluten Free Turkey Tater Tot Casserole is a favorite of my family! Easy and delicious; this casserole makes for a yummy dinner for the entire family!
Sometimes I’m in the mood for “comfort food” that isn’t too terribly unhealthy! I know that sounds like an impossible feat; however, if you change up some of the ingredients you can make just about anything healthier!
With this casserole dish; I use ground turkey (or ground chicken), baked tater tots or crispy crowns to reduce the fat and carbohydrates and use low fat cheese when possible. These couple items help; but portion control is the key!
When I make this casserole for my family they are always in a hurry to get to the table. Not to mention helping themselves to seconds! Who doesn’t love tater tots, cheese and ground meat?
Even Ayden; my picky eater, has seconds of this dish!
I used to make this casserole with hamburger rather than ground turkey. I received a similar recipe from a co-worker over twenty years ago and was so happy to find all the ingredients needed to make it gluten free and healthier. I’ve modified it many times and found this combination to be one of my family’s favorite.

If desired; add mixed veggies or canned corn to onions.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs Ground Turkey (or ground beef)
- 1 30oz pkg Frozen Ore-Ida Crispy Crowns (or other tater tots)
- 2 cans Gluten Free Cafe Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 1/4 Onion; diced
- 2 Tbsp Spice Island Garlic and Herb Seasoning
- 2 Cups Shredded Cheese
- 1 Green Onion; diced
Instructions
- Preheat Oven to 400 degrees F
- Brown ground turkey and drain; set aside.
- Line 9 x 13 baking dish with frozen crispy crowns
- Layer ingredients on top of crispy crowns; 1/2 ground turkey, 1/2 diced onions, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 cheese.
- Repeat layering; crispy crowns, remaining ground turkey, remaining diced onions, 1 can cream of mushroom soup and remaining cheese.
- Top with diced green onions.
- Bake in oven at 400 degrees for 45 minutes
