Squeeze Scoop and Count Ice Cream Shop
Ayden absolutely LOVES ice cream; so this squeeze, scoop and count ice cream shop was the perfect counting activity! At first he simply worked on his fine motor skills to use the scooper to pick up and put down the scoops of ice cream! Counting how many scoops of chocolate, strawberry or mint he placed in his banana split!
Then we worked on patterns; simple and more complex as he mastered the easy ones! I used a dice a few times to roll how many scoops to pick up; which allowed him to count the dots on the dice and then count the scoops of ice cream.
Ayden’s favorite way to play is being the teacher telling mommy which game we are playing and leading the game! It is a fun activity for both of us; a great bonding activity that we get to have a “treat” when we’re done!
There are so many ways to play with this activity; from simple counting, pattern making, which number is missing, adding & subtracting and more!
Lakeshore Learning says the Squeeze, Scoop and Count Ice Cream Shop:

This activity will grow with my son; just like the Getting Ready to Write Gumball Grab, as his counting and math skills improve over the next couple years.
